Our Miracle!

Around 2:00 am on May 6th I was carrying Addie from her room after she had awakened. I was taking her downstairs where we have often laid on our bean bag until she fell asleep and I could put her back in bed. As I took the first step on our stairs, I overstepped the stair, slipped, and started to fall. I remember that my concern was to hold on to Addie, but for some reason, I didn't. I fell a short distance to our landing, Addie fell over the railing and fell to the tile floor below; at least 12 feet high. Addie appears to have hit something (I believe a cabinet door that was open) that gave her a gash on her right cheek with some bruising. Miraculously, she has proven to us ever since that the gash was the only injury she had. She seems alert, involved, and perfectly normal. We know that Heavenly Father's hand played a role in her safety.

Underground City

We visited an underground city on our way back from Cappadocia. It was simply amazing. It is thought that these cities have been around for thousands of years, used by various groups of people. The Christians lived in them to avoid persecution. The guide explained that there were kitchens, bedrooms, chapels, baptismal fonts, etc... The passage ways were very narrow and you had to duck a lot. These people must have been very short and skinny. :) It was incredibly fascinating.

Addie and Nanny/Adana's Main Mosque

Here is Addie with our nanny and neighbor. Gul (nanny) adores Addie. She even made her the Turkish vest she is wearing. The children our Gul's kids. They play with are girls all the time. We feel lucky to have found such great care for our children. Oh- she is an awesome cook too! We are totally spoiled!

Here is the typical form of transportation, dolmoosh. It cost about 1 lira (80 cents) to go anywhere in Adana. We usually drive our own vehicles, but I have been on one a couple times. It is crowded and a little life threatening. :) They drive like the bus drivers in Korea. The other picture is a view of Adana, taken from a friends balcony, notice the big mosque in the background. That is actually the biggest mosque in Turkey (Sabanci Cami). It has amazing parks leading up to it and it is very beautiful inside. The other pictures are of the inside (woman have to cover their heads) and of my parents and family outside of it.

Camels

Here are all of us in Cappadocia riding camels! When you are on a camel, you are a lot higher than you think! :) Just recently, a camel moved into the village where we live. A man goes around with him and a donkey, you can ride either one. I will have to get a picture of it. Oh- Kenz was a little scared, so she is standing next to the camel. If you know Kenz, we were proud of her for even getting close. We went to Cappadocia in December with grandma Deb and Grandpa Bruce. Londyn and grandma got on a camel that time.

Germany

I went to Wiesbaden, Germany for a science training on April 22nd-25th. It was my first time there. I loved all the trees. After living in Korea and then Turkey, it was really nice to be in a place that was CLEAN! I didn't feel like I was "overseas" as much. I enjoyed strolling down the peaceful streets. I was there with other DODS teachers in the district. Each night we'd eat at various restaurants and shop! There is one picture of a store that boasts the "biggest Coo-Coo clock."
